Vintage enameled pewter Chinese tea caddie
This tea caddie was hand crafted from heavy metal alloy most probably pewter, and it has a beautiful glossy enamel copper-colored finish.
It has a double gourd shape and
has been hand engraved with images of oriental branches, foliage and a bird along with Chinese calligraphy.
The inside is clean and odor free but for a faint metal afterthought.
In very good vintage condition. There is a black and gold label with Chinese inscriptions and the letters SM (Google translate suggests "Fragrant Tea House" in Zhongmen City in China. I am suspecting that was sold with tea leaves).
The finish has no chip or wear. The lid comes off freely and sits well on the mouth (about 1" diameter opening)
It is about 5" tall by 3" wide and weights
12.7 oz.
